Redlands Bicycle Kitchen Soft Grand Opening

The Redlands Bicycle Kitchen is ready for donations!

Soft Grand Opening
SUNDAY, JULY 22 (1pm-7pm)

Behind Augies Coffee Shop - 113 North 5th Street, Redlands, CA

We will have the doors open for those of you that would like to make donations and get a look at the new space.

 We hope to open for business in a few weeks.

For those unfamiliar with bike kitchens this is the basic concept: it’s an independent non-profit /cooperative organization that educate cyclists on bicycle mechanics and ridership, and encourage local cycling. It is a do-it-yourself environment where volunteers show how you how to do repairs and bike maintenance. We take donations for stock parts and time spent using the kitchen and learning from the volunteers. These donations help cover the rent and tools.

Here is a list of parts we could use at the kitchen:

Bikes, spare parts, tires, tubes, old wheels, frames, car racks, trainers, clothing. All bike related products new/used.

Some of the donated bikes will be used for a bike share and/or kid’s rides.

Summer at Market Night - Bring Your Bike!

Summer is in full swing, and we've had lots of visitors to the Bike BBQ!

There's a rumor spreading that a full Bicycle Kitchen is under construction. I'm proud to say that rumor is TRUE, and we'll have more info as it comes in!

Still Fixing Tires and Changing LIves

It's been over a year and the Redlands BikeBBQ is growing strong! Many bikes, many people, and many donations - including a beautiful old Women's steel-frame 10-speed tonight! We've got a great following, and some more volunteers to add to our roster! And most exciting of all, we're working on a permanent space right around the corner from our space at Market Night. Lots more to come this year!

BikeBBQ Progress

So far so good over at the BikeBBQ. An amazing amount of people have been taking interest, and we're sure once the weather gets better and people start thinking about their bikes, we'll have more customers.

However, we seem to have at least one or two bikes on the repair stand each week. We've shown people how to adjust their brakes, how to change a tire, and have had a person true a wheel!

So spread the word! Tell two friends, and have them tell two friends, and so on...we know there are a lot of bikes in garages in Redlands...let's get them on the street!
